Last week we were presented with an introduction to the life of Father Emil
Kapuan and his many virtues. Over the next 6 weeks we will be presented
with the virtues of Father Kapuan and how we can take them as our own. The
first virtue studied is Mercy, followed by Faith, Hope, Love, Courage, and
Mission.
"Learning
to give mercy can be difficult for us as men, but it's one of the first steps
in truly coming to know the love of God. Just before his death Father
Kapaun made the decision to forgive his captors who allowed so many men to die
and to ask for their forgiveness. This session will help us to embrace
our own need for God's mercy and in turn share that mercy with others."
The Band of Brothers will again provide a contribution of spirits (the liquid kind) to the upcoming
Sundancer. A "pass the hat" collection will be taken this week
and with the donations a variety of spirits will be purchased for a winner take
all raffle during the Sundancer event. If you prefer to bring a liquor of
your choice you may do that this week also.
The Band of Brothers will cook breakfast for women attending the Ladies Retreat in
the Parish Hall on Saturday Sept. 28th. Volunteer chefs are needed to
cook and serve at this event, if you are available to help serve ladies of our
parish please contact Mark Tristani at mark.tristani@gmail.com.
As you know Father Frank has received a new assignment and left for his new
parish this week (thanks to those of you who helped him move). Father Frank has been a spiritual asset to the parish as
well as this group and we thank him for his guidance and wish him well.
Holy Rosary parish is privileged to have him as their Pastor. The 8 a.m. Mass on Sundays is in English - we're sure Father Frank would welcome seeing friendly faces occasionally.
Welcome Father Michael! Please welcome Father Michael to the Parish as you have
the opportunity. We look forward to the gifts he will bring to the parish.
Brothers, I read the scripture today and reflected on our Forgiven presentation from Saturday. Forgive your brother seven times in one day if necessary. We discussed our feelings about forgiveness after the video. We shared our own struggles on this topic. We are given opportunity to overcome our own obstacles and learn from these challenges. We are reminded of the need to forgive our self. Even when we forgive, it is still difficult to clear these memories from our mind and our hearts. Sin has harmful effects that are never easy to forgive, aspecially effects on others. We must strive to live virtously and be the example of God's love for others. Peace and all good! Daryl
