This Saturday - Dr. Anthony Lilles

This coming Saturday we are privileged to have Dr. Anthony Lilles, Associate Professor at the St. John Vianney Theological Seminary, providing a presentation on "The Eucharist and the End Times" at the morning men's group.  If you haven't attended the group for awhile, now would be a great time to reacquaint yourself with the spiritual journey we are traversing together.  If you currently attend Saturday meetings, invite or bring someone you feel would benefit from it.
In Christ!

Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving

Happy and blessed Thanksgiving wishes to all.  Let's all take a moment to thank God for all He has shared with us and our families, and remember those who are less fortunate that we are.

Photos of Band of Brothers

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Band of Brothers at OLOF, so now would be an opportune time to put together a slide show of the times we've shared together as a group.  I know many of you have taken photos of the group over the years and ask that you forward them to me so we can all enjoy them.  If anyone has a flair for putting together slide shows and would like to undertake this task please let me know.
Thanks!

The Chapel on the Rock - St. Malo

We stopped by St. Malo on the way home from the retreat, and when we looked at the picture, one quotation (from Matthew 16:18) immediately came to mind.

Parish Retreat This Week

The Parish Retreat (not to be confused with the Men's Retreat, which is this weekend) is this week - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  The speaker is Thomas Smith, and the topic is Lumen Fidei: In the Light of Faith.  There will be a trio of talks: "Sharing the Light" (how to talk about our faith with others); "Living the Faith" (using the Creed as a guide for walking in faith); and "Praying the Faith" (making prayer a whole way of life by learning the 5 forms of prayers, keys for meditative prayer and the power of contemplation).

Call Roxanne or Kathy at 303-233-1283 to purchase a copy of Lumen Fidei for $5 by October 21.  You can also view Lumen Fidei at the Vatican website or download the PDF here: Lumen Fidei.

Hope to see everyone there.

The Lamb's Supper Session 2, Passover Past and Present

Brothers in Christ,

This week Dr. Scott Hahn explains that the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the fulfillment of the Passover of the Old Covenant. Be sure to attend and bring a friend, this is too powerful not to share.

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Matthew 5:17

Shameless Plugs - Acts of the Apostles and Junior High Bible Study

Our very own Mike Delp and his wife Connie are running a bible study of Acts of the Apostles, taught by Jeff Cavins.  It is on Thursday nights at 7 p.m. in the Parish Center.  It's a great study.  If you are interested, contact Mike for more information.

For those of you who have (or know of) junior high age students, there is a junior high bible study on Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. or Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m.  There's no reason to stop educating your children on the faith after Confirmation.  The cornerstone of the study will be the Encounter Bible series by Mark Hart, covering from Genesis to Acts of the Apostles, but a number of other topics will be covered, including the Mass, the Sacraments, the Ten Commandments and topics related to Advent and Lent.  Our very own Kevin Brady teaches the Wednesday night class, but that's not a reason not to sign your kids up.  Contact Mary Pott for more information.

Session 1, The Lamb of God

Brothers in Christ,

This Saturday we are privileged to embark on a journey into the Mass and will discover how it "echo's elements of scripture, of both the old and new testament."  Be sure to join the group and further discover a true meaning of the Heavenly Liturgy, the Mass.
The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John,  who testified to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.  Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.  Revelation 1:1-3.

Parish Picnic Help

The Parish picnic is next Saturday Sept 14th following the 5pm mass. Many of the parish organizations will be participating (Altar & Rosary, Knights of Columbus, American Heritage Girls, Boy Scouts, etc.) and we could certainly use the help of any members of the Band of Brothers in set up and tear down of the tables and chairs that day. Set up will begin around 3pm and we are assuming a post 8pm tear down. Please let Woody Ritchey know if you will be able to assist in the effort.
